Want to know a little about who is playing intermission at Ignite Boulder 12? It’s John Common and Blinding Flashes of Light.

I could woo you with a list of recent awards they have won, or quotes from reviews like: “By the fifth song, I wanted to join the band.” But for some reason, the most memorable aspect of their story is this: John started playing the guitar when one washed ashore (inside a trunk) on the beaches of his small fishing village in Portugal.

The most important part though, is how they sound. Check this out:

To be honest, I usually don’t listen to the band before the show – but I’m glad I did! They also happen to be opening for Toad & The Wet Sprocket at Chautauqua this Saturday. Want more videos and songs? Check out their website: John Common & Blinding Flashes of Light.

Like schoolchildren huddled around a campfire after a January snowstorm we are proud to announce Ignite Boulder 12 (the fiercest pice of nerdery you have ever laid eyes on) will be September 2nd, 2010, at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium.

This is amazing is many ways:

September weather will make it seem like free air conditioning

BBQ lines will be at least half, wait, perhaps even less, than last time

Free beer will be plentiful as traffic on I-70, oh so cold and delicious

The speakers will drop knowledge like it is in fact a hot potato

Tickets are on sale here (still the best $10 you can spend on nerd like activities)

Dates:

Big Day: September 2nd 5pm BBQ, 6pm Doors, 7pm Show

Spark Submission will be open now until August 9th here

Voting will be from August 10-15th

August 16th Sparks announced
