Ignite Boulder 5 went in a different direction than the previous Ignites.

Shortly after Ignite Boulder 4 Larkin Carey, shared his observations on that event along with suggestions for bettering future Ignites. Larkin crafted an introspective & articulate post that served as a catalyst for tweaking the Ignite Boulder concept.

Andrew posted his own thoughts as well as highlighting Larkin’s post in the process. Ignite Boulder 4 presenters and attendees commented on both blogs, and before you could say Brightkite Wall, there was a Planning Committee in place with a goal to take Ignite Boulder 5 to a bigger and better place.

We (the planning committee) feel we accomplished that goal. But tell us what you think, in case you haven’t already. Please leave links of other posts/links related to Boulder Ignite 5 that you’d like to share.

I never imagined having an event at the Boulder Theater, nevertheless a very fun, high energy and geeky event.

The feedback has been tremendous.

Thank you to the speakers, you did amazing and did more than make us laugh, you taught something, and that was beautiful.

How do I get my ticket?
You need to buy one online here, and then just show up to Boulder Theater after 6 on July 2nd.

Can I buy my ticket at the door?
We have 50 tickets for the door, first come, first serve!  $5 cash.

What is the schedule?
6pm doors, 7pm presentations start, 8:45(ish) The Autumn Film 9:45(ish) Fellow Citizens.

Can I bring someone under 21?
If they are your child and you accompany them.

What is it like?
Part geek, part presentation, fast paced, no pitches, plentiful drinking and overall FUN!  Then two great sets by two of Boulder’s favorite bands.  Very welcoming.

Is it live streamed for those that can’t make it?
That is the plan, at Ignite Boulder Live.

Is there an afterparty?
Yes, Hapa Sushi downtown is doing a free small sake and happy hour pricing if you say “Ignite!”

We are going to try a bit of a different way to solicit speakers.  It goes like this:

http://voting.igniteboulder.com opens today.  For this event I want to encourage everyone to really focus on Sparks (Ignite presentations) that teach something and have social value.  Bring on the hacking chocolate or how I trained for an Ironman.  We will keep it open, with just ideas being accepted until June 11th.  At this time we will open up voting, which will close on the 18th.  The top 7 vote getters will be invited to speak, the community controls these speakers.  The other speakers are chosen from the volunteer crew (each get one).

June 19th: All speakers are announced.

Tickets open up June 4th Tuesday June 9th at 11am.  This event will sell out, so please get your tickets early.
